I saw this video on a Monday morning and even then I couldn’t be fooled by it… Sure, it’s probably a nice typeface, but was it absolutely necessary to jump on board of the “letterpress-revival” just to pretend to be (here comes the magic word) “authentic”. Ooooh, we are so “authentic”. Look at us!

I had never heard about Bill Bisset before. He’s a poet and artist from Canada. I looked up some of his other work and performances, but to be honest, none of it did very much for me…
But I did like this film. A documentary produced by the Canadian National Film Board in the 60ties. It talks mainly about Bissett’s search for freedom and his struggle with authority (ranging from gatekeepers-to-the-arts, overzealous policemen and father-figure-like landlords). It’s an interesting look into the mind of a young artist and perhaps these are subjects every artist struggles with…
It is also a real nice film to just watch. Beautiful photography and Beatnik ambiance.

We’ve had bookshelf porn on this blog, now it’s time for bookshelf voyeurism.
The site “Designers & Books” gives us a peek into the libraries of some 50-and-counting more-or-less famous designers from around the world (well… Actually, at the moment they have one from Finland, one from Japan, five from the UK and 49 from the USA, so… I guess they’ll have to do some travelling soon…)
The designers show us which books have had an impact on their life and design practice. A lot of the people included are architects or product designers, but there are twenty-or-so graphic designers as well.
So. Do you want to know what Paula Scher is reading? John Maeda? Michael Beirut? Milton Glaser even? Of course you do! It’s silly, I know. But can you resist taking a peek at the bookshelves when you are visiting someone? No you can’t…. Of course not.
