Oooooh! You just can’t help but fall in love with the gorgeous posters designed by Heath Killen, now can you? Idiosyncratic use of color, graphical textures, strong compositions. Yes. Yes, I say!

Kevin Tong: Posters 11:32

 

 

 

I like Mr. Kevin Tong. Not only does he make fancy posters, he also makes elaborate blog posts about how he makes them, often including process videos. Nice stuff. He even did an instructional video on how to pack valuable prints to protect them from damage during shipment. (If you're interested, find it here along with plenty of other videos.)

 

 

His R2-D2 poster is particularly intriguing. I love the end result, but I can’t help but thinking that making it must have been such a drag! Oh well, Mr. Tong probably couldn’t disagree with me more, so no worries…

Super8 11:55

I just came across this. Looks nice…

Super8 is a poster-magazine printed in A3 format and distributed in Milan (Italy) free of charge. It is based on the number 8. It is neither sponsored nor advertised. Borne by the passion for graphics, flavored with the taste of vintage.The magazine shall be distributed in 8 issues. Each issue shall have two parts, one created by Marco Nicotra, the other by Giovanni Rizzo, the founders of Super8. The theme of every issue represents one of the 8 regular words, which, in Italian, are generated by coupling a letter from the alphabet with the word “otto”, i.e. 8 in Italian: B8 (Bang), C8 (Lovesick), D8 (Learned), F8 (I fuck), L8 (I fight), M8 (Motto), R8 (Broken), S8 (Under)

Apart from the regular issues, they also have “collabor8”-issues. I’m not quite sure whether you should just send stuff in or not, but if you are really interested, you should contact them and ask. No harm in that, I guess…. Check out the site at www.super8magazine.com.

Street art: Sten + Lex 10:24

 

 

Sten and Lex are Italian street artists who enjoy coming up with their very own special techniques. They often work with stencils which they cut out of paper and paste on wood. When they pull back the stencil they leave some of it pasted on, hereby creating a not-reproducible piece which they call a “stencil poster”. (You can see a video of this here).

In a recent piece they made a painted poster of 26x12 meters on the side of a building in Garbatella, a neighborhood where they are crazy about football (soccer) and the club AS Roma. The images on the poster are a wolf and Totti, the captain of the club. Check out the video below…
