Faceout Books

IMG_7013_0383_2

A blog dedicated to book cover design with lots of great work but also interesting interviews with the designers behind the projects.

Administrator Charles Brock describes the purpose of Faceout Books as follows:

This venue has been created to appreciate the practice of book cover design. This is not a blog to rip apart what we dislike—everyone has a different aesthetic. This is a blog about the challenges and outcomes of a project. We are here to teach and be taught by one another.

Do spent some time at Faceoutbooks.com

Tree of Codes by J.S. Foer

What an amazing book…

Apparently the publishers had a hell of a time finding a printer who believed he could make this. Eventually they ended up in Belgium (Yeey, Belgium!) at Die Keure. And if that wasn’t enough, the book was also designed by a Belgian graphic designer, Sara De Bondt who works from London… (again: Yeey!)

Below, I guess it is some kind of book trailer, showing the reactions of the public. Which speak volumes… (sorry, couldn’t resist).

And now, to the bookstore everybody!

Chip Kidd

Mr. Chip Kidd is an author, editor and graphic designer, best known for his innovative book covers and his love for Batman.

And yes, I do know the out-of-focus figurine below probably isn’t Batman.

Check out the video for an introduction…

As a bonus: a small selection of his book covers…
